Muse Wonder pricing on Meta and OpenRouter — compare a complete bill
A worked method for comparing direct and third-party Muse Wonder costs without confusing token rates, account credits or tool charges.
Two providers can advertise the same token prices while your total spending differs. A useful comparison starts with the same workload and ends with the usage record and final invoice from each provider.
Compare the request before the price
Record the model identifier, prompt, maximum output length and enabled tools. Meta direct and OpenRouter have separate credentials, balances and billing records. A funded account on one route does not establish credit on the other.
Keep the workload fixed while changing providers. Otherwise a shorter answer or fewer searches can look like a pricing advantage even though you tested different work. If the provider reports cached usage, record it separately from total input.
A bill you can reproduce
Consider a hypothetical batch with 1 million total input tokens, 200,000 cached input tokens, 100,000 output tokens and 1,000 searches. Using the rates checked in Meta’s pricing documentation, ordinary input costs $3.20, cached input $0.04, output $2 and searches $2.50. The estimate is $7.74 before other charges.
The cached quantity is part of total input. Charging $4 against the full million and then adding cache cost would count those tokens twice. Try these quantities in our pricing calculator, then compare the categories with your own provider’s usage report.
What can change the final amount?
Check the provider’s current credit-purchase terms, platform fees, taxes, promotions and supported tools. Do not assume equal headline rates guarantee an identical invoice. Repeated attempts also matter: compare spending per completed task as well as spending per request.
This is an arithmetic example, not an original provider performance test or a claim about your account. Keep a small representative sample before committing a monthly budget. For account creation and endpoint differences, see the API access guide.
